Wisconsin, famed for its cheese is also dubbed as "America's Dairyland." The popularity of cheesemaking in Wisconsin got its residents the nickname of "Cheeseheads." Traditionally, the state is also home to a great number of breweries and bars per capita.

The Green Bay Packers, one of the most profitable small-market professional sports franchises in the U.S. is based in Wisconsin. Lambeau Field, their home stadium is regarded by football enthusiasts as "sacred ground."

Wisconsin has cities and towns of all sizes. The city of Milwaukee is the 19th largest in the country. The Milwaukee Art Museum is known for its distinctive architecture. Madison, the state capital is also a university town and a working city. It is home to the Vilas Zoo which is free for all visitors, and the Olbrich Gardens conservatory. Medium-sized cities dot the state and anchor a network of working farms surrounding them.

The economy of Wisconsin is steered by agriculture and manufacturing. Aside from dairy products, the state ranks first in the production of corn for silage, cranberries, ginseng, and snap beans for processing.

A large part of Wisconsin's manufacturing industry is focused on food processing. Some popular food brands produced in the state include Oscar Mayer, Tombstone and Jack's frozen pizza, and Johnsonville Bratwursts.

Tourism is also a major player in the economy. Destinations such as as the House on the Rock near Spring Green, Circus World Museum in Baraboo, and the set of attractions around Wisconsin Dells entice thousands of visitors every year. Festivals such as Summerfest and the EAA Oshkosh Airshow always draw large crowds.
