The city of Puyallup is located in Pierce County, Washington. Founded in 1877, it is the second-oldest settlement in Washington State after Tumwater. Its residents numbered 33,011 at the time of the 2000 census.
For two weeks in September and one weekend in April, the Puyallup Fair, the largest annual fair in western Washington, is held here. Other events and festivals include the Puyallup Main Street Farmer's Market and the Daffodil Festival. The city also boasts of a number of historical sites, including the Fort Malone Historical Marker and The Meeker Mansion, which was once home to the city's founder and first mayor, Ezra Meeker.
