Flower Mound is a town in Denton County, Texas. As of the 2003 estimates, the town had a total population of 60,621.
A large mound located in the southern portion of the community inspired the town's namesake. Amidst a commercial section, the mound is preserved in a private area as defense against further development.
Europeans reportedly settled in the Flower Mound area as early as the 1840's. In the town's history, some of the more memorialized nineteenth-century settlers are Andrew Morriss and David Kirkpatrick. The town was incorporated in 1961 to avert an impending annexation by the city of Irving.
