Part of Macon County, Red Boiling Springs is a small community of 1,023, according to the 2000 census.
Red Boiling Springs once reveled in renown as a mineral water resort. Famous personages have even visited the area, which included former President Woodrow Wilson. Five varieties of the water naturally occurred in the resort. In time, the area’s lucrative tourism catalyzed the erection of a dozen hotels. In addition, Red Boiling Springs' popularity invited minstrel shows and other entertainments unusual for a town its size.
