At the junction of the Auglaize and Maumee rivers, Defiance is a community in northwestern Ohio situated about 50 miles southwest of Toledo. The total estimated population in the community, as of 2003, was 16,163.
The community name was taken after Fort Defiance, an outpost named by Gen. "Mad Anthony" Wayne.
