Indiana’s rural areas serve as agricultural communities which cover three quarters of land. Its capital and largest city is Indianapolis.

Indiana considers itself America's crossroad as tons of land, air and water transportation make their movement from north to south and east to west in Indiana's northwest region.

The Hoosier State also leads in education. For higher learning, first-rate public and private institutions flourish in Indiana. Public universities include the Indiana State University at Terre Haute, Ball State University at Muncie, and Vincennes University at Vincennes. Indiana University at Bloomington produces more medical doctors than any other school in the nation. Purdue University at West Lafayette has the largest undergraduate engineering enrollment in the U.S. One of the most esteemed Catholic universities in the world, The University of Notre Dame is located in South Bend.

The Fairmount Historical Museum in Fairmount, Indiana pays respect to two creative men who were born and raised there. James Dean, actor and pop culture icon has his memorabilia displayed in the museum. These items were once owned by James Dean and his family, and include awards, wardrobe and motorcycles. Another respected Fairmount native is Jim Davis, creator of Garfield the Cat.
