Escondido is a city in northern San Diego County. Founded in 1888, Escondido is one of the oldest cities in the county. "Escondido" is the Spanish term for "hidden."
The city, with around 137,000 residents, is situated just north of San Diego and belongs to the San Diego-Carlsbad metro area.
